The Scotland Deanery (part of the medical directorate within NHS Education for Scotland) is responsible for co-ordinating the recruitment of doctors to postgraduate medical training. We oversee the delivery and quality management of postgraduate medical training of approximately 5500 doctors in Scotland. The Deanery has four regions covering Scotland, allowing for training to be localised or national depending on the speciality and educational needs. Answerable to the GMC, we ensure that the training delivered meets GMC and Royal College standards, and we are proud that the Scotland Deanery regions score very highly in the annual GMC trainee survey. A partnership of Health Boards, Scottish Government and the Scotland Deanery, Scottish Medical Training (SMT) is NHS Scotland's system for co-ordinating the recruitment of trainees into postgraduate medical training. A multiple award winner, she has worked on skyscrapers, bridges and sculptures with signature architects. She has appeared extensively in the media, has given a TEDx talk about the engineering 'brand' and was selected as a 'Leading Lady' in the 2014 M&S campaign. The talk will concentrate on the structural aspects on the Shard: its design, construction and unusual features.
