Pay: NMW (MA); Hours: Full Time; Term: Permanent Reference: MA-007 Location: Paisley Type: Job opportunity Expiry Date: Oct 19, 2015 Main Duties Apprentices will work under the supervision of a qualified early years practitioner, meeting the day to day needs of children aged 0 to 5 years old Assist with the supervision and be actively involved in the children’s play (indoor and outdoor) and participate to ensure that mealtimes are a pleasant experience Assist with the preparation and serving of snacks and meals and relevant kitchen duties Assist with implementing the planned programme of activities Assist with the creation of a stimulating and attractive environment Assist with the care, maintenance and security of all equipment and toys within the nursery Assist in maintaining all areas and equipment to ensure high levels of safety and hygiene, thereby reducing the risk of infection ESSENTIAL Qualifications, Certificates or Licences Applicants should have 3 standard grades, or equivalent at level 3, including English, ESSENTIAL Skills, Abilities and Personal Qualities Be reliable, self-motivated, work well as part of a team, and above all have an interest in children’s care and Registration with PVG (or able to quickly gain) Prepared to undertake professional development as appropriate Good communication skills both written and verbal Affinity with young children Ability to work as a reliable member of the team, developing positive relationships with colleagues, parents, children and outside agencies Ability to follow instructions and use initiative appropriately High standard of personal hygiene and conduct in keeping with working with other staff and children Willing and able to work towards a formal childcare SVQ qualification Experience No previous experience is required but must enjoy working with children Other information You will be working towards an industry recognised qualification in Social Services Children and YP L3, (modern apprenticeship), whilst being employed within a nursery setting.
