Contribute to and put into action the planning and provision of a varied programme of stimulating and educational play opportunities for children. Participate with children in play activities where appropriate. Attend and contribute to planning and training meetings when and where required. Contribute to and enforce in a fair and sensible manner the rules of the project. Provide a caring environment for children by ensuring that children are safe, secure and properly cared for at all times Establish and maintain good relationships with children, parents, other agencies, schools and other building users. Be aware at all times of all aspects of Health & Safety and be prepared to take appropriate action. Accompany children on trips as required by the Manager ensuring that Health & Safety guidelines are followed. Look after project equipment – maintain and repair. Be responsible, reliable, and flexible, use common sense and be a good timekeeper. Provide written reports when requested. Undertake such duties as may be deemed necessary by the Manager or other relevant members of staff. ESSENTIAL Qualifications, Certificates or Licences: Applicants should be qualified to SVQ level 2/3 in childcare Be reliable, sensible, self-motivated, work well as part of a team, Have an interest in children’s care and development ESSENTIAL Skills, Abilities and Personal Qualities Good communication skills both written and verbal Ability to work as a part of a team, developing positive relationships with colleagues, parents, children and outside agencies High standard of personal hygiene and conduct in keeping with working with other staff and children Must have a flexible approach to learning as will be trained in all aspects of the job Experienced Qualifications preferred but not essential but must have experience of working in childcare Other information The successful candidate is required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Group (PVG) membership.
